A band who formed at a North Lanarkshire rehearsal studio will be spreading their own brand of joy performing live as they prepare for the release of their debut single.
Four-piece outfit Bliss were all music students who attended Main Street Studios in Coatbridge for lessons with their respective instruments.
Ben Smith, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Cody Whelan, lead guitar, and Connor McGuigan, bass guitar, are all 16 years old and pupils at St Andrew’s High, the fourth member of the group is drummer and Taylor High pupil Lewis Ferguson, 15, from Carfin.
Ben started taking guitar lessons at the Coatbridge studios when he was eight years old. The quartet were introduced to each other as bandmates by studio owner Brian Imrie and have gone from strength to strength.

Despite their tender years Bliss already have a bit of experience under their belts from performing live at the Eagle Inn, and on the undercard to Tijuana Bibles at St Luke’s in Glasgow.
Lead singer Ben , said: “I don’t really remember how we came up with the name Bliss, we just wanted something simple and easy to remember, something catchy rather than anything complicated.
READ MORE: Young musicians are producing the sound of the future at Main Street Studios in Coatbridge“I suppose we’re playing alternative rock kind of stuff just now, we’re trying to capture a sound like Arctic Monkeys or Catfish and the Bottlemen kind of stuff.
“They’re the sort of bands that influence us, and we all have quite similar music tastes.
“We’ve already played a few gigs at the Eagle Inn and also St Luke’s in Glasgow.

“The single’s called Bullseye and we started work on it last year and recorded it in January. It worked out quite well.
“It’s a bit softer than the stuff we normally play.”
Main Street Studios and record label owner, Brian Imrie said: "This will be the first release on the label for a while and we have a few others planned in the coming months.
"I've known them all for years from coming for lessons and they are brilliant together as a band. They sound great and are writing their own material. They're really mature sounding for their ages."

The digital single is being released by Main St Records on all platforms on April 25.
Bliss will perform at a launch night for the single at the Classic Grand, Jamaica Street, Glasgow on May 3, tickets priced £10 are available from Tickets Scotland.

Before that they will almost literally be putting themselves in the shop window when they perform a free gig on Saturday, April 19 at HMV in the city’s Argyle Street.
