Thomas Clinton Lynch
Funeral rites for Thomas Clinton Lynch, 80, of Como, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004 at St. James Catholic Church.
Burial followed at Forest Academy Cemetery with military honors conducted by Hopkins County Military Coalition, and with Ernest Martinez, Gus Shelton, Cliff Hudson, Gary Steed, H.P. Hosey and Mike Emerson serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Lynch died Monday, May 17, 2004 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1923, in Dallas, to Thomas C. and Wilma Mae Woods Lynch.
He married Holly Duvall. She preceded him in death in 1979.
Mr. Lynch was a certified welder by profession, a trade he used prior to and after serving as a military medical surgical technician in World War II. He received several decorations and commendations for his service in the Rhineland as a medic. He also served 26 years with the U.S. Postal service in the Como area.
He was active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, Winnsboro Chapter, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and he was a 50-year member of both Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Jane Shelton.
Mr. Lynch was also preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Robert Lynch in 1955.

Rickey Looney
A graveside service for Rickey Looney, 54, of Dike, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in Conner Cemetery with the Rev. John Pangle officiating.
Mr. Looney passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, after battling cancer for a period of time.
He was born in Caraway, Arkansas, on January 25, 1950, to Sammy and Sue Spivey Looney.
Mr. Looney was a printer for Echo Publishing Company for 11 years. He was also a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Heather Edwards of Bonham, Texas; his mother, Sue Coln of Dike, Texas; one sister, Teresa Snow of Dike, Texas; grandchildren, Roy Lynn Flores, Joshua Lee Flores, Danuel Andrew Edwards, III; life-long friends, Don and Patsy Burton of Sulphur Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Looney was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Sammy Looney and Kenny Looney.

Harold Vernon Speaks
Funeral services for Harold Vernon Speaks, 83, of Dallas, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, with the Rev. Rob Keith officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Franklin County, with Dewayne Hopgood, Gary Lewis, Bill Speaks, Leon Day, Gene Abels and Jack Franklin serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Speaks died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Texas Specialty Hospital in Dallas.
He was born on March 9, 1921, in Commerce, to Henry Knollie and Susie Velma King Speaks.
He married Maudie Cannaday on March 21, 1942. She survives.
Mr. Speaks was a retired truck driver.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II.
He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Cockrell Hill, where he served as a deacon.
Other survivors include two daughters, Darlene Speaks Davis and Marlene Speaks Garner, both of Dallas; one brother, Bill Speaks of Grand Prairie; one sister, Edna Lewis of Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Speaks was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harold Dewayne Speaks on Nov. 29, 1962; two brothers; two sisters; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Rosa Lee Jones
Funeral services for Rosa Lee Jones, age 97, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2004 at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry Putnam and Rev. Steve Davis officiating.
Interment followed at North Hopkins Cemetery, with John Drummond, Don Drummond, Steve Drummond, Danny Ragsdale, Brent Glenn and Alan Muetzenberg serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were the Harvey Class and Wesley United Methodist Church Quilters' Club.

Joan Estelle Breymer Heuston
A memorial service for Joan Estelle Breymer Heuston, age 69, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 11:00 a.m., October 30, 2004 at her residence 2710 CR 2297, Sulphur Springs.

Dean M. Daniel
Funeral services for Dean M. Daniel age, 80, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 3, 2004, at the West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Rhoades officiating.
Burial followed at the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Ted Tucker, Rick Dodd, Bryan Dodd, Jarred Dodd, Daniel Tucker, Elwin Strawn Doyle Starrett.
Military graveside honors were conducted by the Hopkins County Military Coalition.

Barbara J. Lee
Funeral services for Barbara Jean Lee, 67, of Sulphur Springs, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 at West Oaks Funeral Chapel with Chuck King officiating.

Alice 'Betty' Rogers
Funeral services for Alice "Betty" Rogers, 85, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Lillian Randolph Hines Allen
Funeral services for Lillian Randolph Hines, 84, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 in Spence Chapel in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Thurman 'Tom' Dooley
Funeral services for Thurman "Tom" Dooley, 76, of Saltillo, formerly of Commerce, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at Prairie Valley Baptist Church with Arles Vandiver officiating.

Jerry Wayne Chester
Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Chester, 48, of Mesquite, a native of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tommy Hall officiating.

Gary Craft Hicks
Funeral service for Gary Craft Hicks, 92, of Sulphur Springs were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Chris Shelby and Keith Kilmer officiating.

A graveside service for Lela Mae Tennison, 78, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 in Greenview Cemetery with Chaplain Curtis French officiating.

Lucy Walling
Funeral services for Lucy Walling, 74, of Mount Vernon, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, with the Revs. Pepper Puryear and Joe Bass officiating.

Alice Harriet Bohannon
Funeral services for Alice Harriet Bohannon, 89, of Sulphur Springs, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 in West Oaks Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Byrd of Tyler officiating.

May Lue Riddle
A memorial service for May Lue Riddle, 85, of Sulphur Springs, were held at a later date.

Letha Gilbreath Cumbie
Funeral services for Letha Gilbreath Cumbie, 94, of Grand Saline, a native of Cumby, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 at Main Street Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Herbert officiating.

David Bell
Funeral services for David Bell, age, 44, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 25, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gifford Long officiating.
Burial followed at the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Terry Green, Jerry Green Tony Anglin, John Powell, Mike Phipps, Michael Matthews and Kevin Matthews serving as pallbearers.

John R. Palmer
FORT WORTH - John R. Palmer, 55, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004.

Glenn Clark Wheatley
Funeral services for Glenn Clark Wheatley, age 87, of Canyon, Texas, were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at Brooks Chapel with Bill Holt officiating.
Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery.

Martha Jean Harred Scott
Martha Jean Harred Scott was born on November 8, 1929, in Sulphur Bluff, Texas.
She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School as valedictorian of her class in 1946.
Martha attended Southern Methodist University from 1946-1950, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education.

Hazel Blanche Reid
A graveside funeral service for Hazel Blanche Reid, 88, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 in Restlawn Memorial Park with B.J. Teer officiating.
