so question about those that have a big age gap. I have a 12 and almost 11 yr old. If I have another baby do you technically have a babyshower or anything? Seeing how we're starting all over again. Do people just do a registry and share that? Do we do nothing?

A baby sprinkle ? It’s like a shower just usually a little smaller and for second kids

@Hocuspocus1313,
Never heard of it. Is it just close friends and family? Is it set up the same way as a shower or more laid back?

@Nelson87,
it’s usually more laid back and just close friends and family. Usually at someone’s house rather than a venue type thing.

A sip and see? This is after the baby is born when you feel comfortable having people around. Everyone can meet your new addition and shower you both with love.

@ginger0421,
I like that idea. I honestly have no idea what to get this time around. I know the essentials, diapers, clothes, carseat etc but it's been so long.

With that age gap I'd be ok with someone throwing me a shower. You really need so much!
My kids are 2 and 4 so I have just about everything I need so I'd feel weird having a shower. With my second I did make a registry and kept the info to myself. It was mostly to keep track of what I needed and also the discounts. If someone asked for a link I'd send it but definitely didn't expect anything.

@knich9,
I wasn't sure how it went for those that haven't had a baby in awhile. I don't know the etiquette for showers, a one and done thing or not. I feel a little weird wanting a shower/sprinkle already having kids but we are starting all over again.

Yes, with the age gap it is absolutely acceptable to have a baby shower! You’re starting over. Everyone can see that.
Where I’m from, we have them even if it’s someone’s sixth baby, because we all want to get together and celebrate. Congrats!

@BabyReynolds21,
Thanks for the info. I feel a little silly even asking about it.

@Nelson87,
No need to feel silly. You obviously just want to use proper manners. That’s commendable :)

A lot of women do a sprinkle. You can also do a prep party where a bunch of your close friends come over and prep meals before you have your baby.

@Lexisolem,
I love that idea! I’ve seen people do “nesting” parties where everyone comes over and helps clean and prepare the house/nursery for the baby to come! I’m a bit of a control freak so idk if I would ever let anyone else do it for me haha but I love seeing all these different ideas compared to a typical baby shower!

My friend had a 9 year gap, and she had a full typical baby shower ♀️ everyone was happy to attend and gift because of it.

girl you’re starting all over! Do a full blown baby shower if you’re up for it!
I have a friend who keeps having babies back to back to back and she always has baby shower. Celebrate your pregnancy and your baby

With the age gap it definitely seems appropriate and I’m sure everyone will be understanding of it, you have to do what’s best and most helpful for you and your family. Get creative with it and enjoy it, we only get some many of these in our life. And it’s always a good excuse to get friends and family together and enjoy some yummy snacks lol

It’s been so many years, you’ll need all kinds of new things. I’d definitely say go ahead and throw and baby shower, no shame!! It’s been over a decade I think that calls for a baby shower. You deserve to celebrate and it’ll be fun to have the older kids there to be a part of it.
